German firms in the U.S.: Skills shortage a business challenge
The results of the Annual German American Business Outlook survey were exclusively presented at the New York Stock Exchange on December 5, 2011. Besides the general business outlook for 2012, the study inquired about firms' workforce training and retention strategies and the question if skills shortages are currently an issue for the German employers. While the respondents face current economic and political uncertainties with optimism - 86% are expecting their operations to grow in 2012, including 67% that are planning to create new jobs in 2012 - skills shortages are a business challenge for 60%.
