Program
The German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest (GACCoM) is pleased to be bringing a delegation of German experts from the energy efficiency sector to Wisconsin in June 2012. As part of this program, we will be hosting a conference on industrial energy efficiency, featuring German and U.S. industry and policy experts. Speakers will include:
- John Bobrowich, Executive Director, Wisconsin Energy Research Corporation
Mr. Bobrowich has industrial experience with General Electric and Siemens and was also CEO and Cofounder of ReGENco. He will be discussing the state of the industry in Wisconsin and the current trends.
- Dominik Bretz, Manager, Training and Export Divisions, RAM GmbH Mess- und Regeltechnik
Mr. Bretz will be discussing RAM’s role as a developer and manufacturer of analog and digital devices for regulation and control of equipment in industrial facilities (especially in the food sector) and greenhouses.
- Franziska Hercher, Sales & Marketing, Berghof Systeme e.K.
Ms. Hercher will be presenting Berghof’s perspective on how traditional, efficiency-targeted IT solutions can also help manufacturers become more energy efficient.
- Jürgen Jäcklin, Managing Director, Gebr. Jäcklin GmbH
Mr. Jäcklin will be discussing the role that innovative manufacturers can take in driving the market towards more energy efficient and environmentally friendly compressed air solutions via the development of technologies such as water-lubricated compressors.
- David Jenkins, Director of Commercialization & Market Development, Wisconsin State Energy Office
Mr. Jenkins will be discussing Wisconsin’s latest incentive programs for energy efficiency
- Dr. Clemens Mostert, Head of Cluster Management, Network for Decentralized Energy Technologies (deENet)
Dr. Mostert will be providing an overview of industrial energy efficiency and automation trends and best practices in Germany.
- Werner Weidner, CEO, WF Steuerungstechnik / Airleader
Mr. Weidner will be presenting Airleader’s experience on the importance of measuring consumption in order to improve efficiency.

With global energy prices increasing, controlling efficiency has become one of the keys to success in 21st-century manufacturing. Germany’s manufacturers rely on energy efficiency technologies to maintain their role as a world-leading exporter of manufactured goods, despite their higher energy prices. Their widespread adoption of process measurement- and control systems are key to their ability to keep energy costs from impacting their bottom line.
In 2009, 19.05% of Wisconsin’s GDP came from manufacturing. (The average share of GDP from manufacturing in 2009 was only 11.8% U.S.-wide.) With 41.73% of Wisconsin’s energy consumption coming from the industrial sector (not counting transportation), and the continued growth of energy intensive industries including paper-, chemical-, and non-metallic mineral manufacturing, energy costs are playing an increasing role in the economic health of the State.
The conference will also include presentations from eight German companies, here to discuss their experiences and solutions with energy efficiency technologies.
