Bring your family to the Christkindlmarket Chicago 2009 for an exciting German children’s lantern parade. The parade is patterned after the German St. Martin tradition that celebrates Samaritan deeds. At the parade, the children will illuminate the Christkindlmarket with their colorful lanterns while singing German and American Christmas carols.
Pre-registration is recommended to ensure your child gets a lantern. Lanterns can be purchased through the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest (GACCoM) while supplies last. For families to register for this event, order lanterns. Each comes with a light and carrying rod at $10 for GACCoM Members and $12 for Non-Members. For Children bringing their own Lantern, the registartion fee will be $5 (no open flames/candles please). Please click on the registration button at the bottom of this page and enter your child's name in the guest section.
At the end of the Parade, each participating child will additionally receive a goody bag with holiday treats. This is a great opportunity to share one of Germany’s nicest holiday traditions with your family. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
