Transatlantic Program 2009 - 1st stage completeThe TAP team kicked off the Transatlantic Program 2009 with the 10-day Immersion Seminar in Berlin on May 23rd. The Seminar provided the participants with intensive language instruction and valuable cultural training to help them prepare for their respective internships at companies and organizations throughout Germany. Beside the cultural program in Berlin including visiting the German Parliament and the Federal Foreign Office, the students looked into the daily routine of the editorial department of the German newspaper “Der Tagesspiegel” and listened to an onsite presentation about Rainwater Use & Management and Green Roof Technology by experts from the Technical University of Berlin. The group took additionally day trips to cities like Dresden and Hamburg and visited companies to gain an insight into German business culture. More information is posted on the TAP website.

German Language Immersion Day School Opens in ChicagoGerman School Chicago opens a tuition-based German language immersion day school for children ages 3, 4 & 5 (pre-school and kindergarten years) starting September 2009
GACCoM wants to share the latest developments at the German School Chicago, which will open a tuition-based German language immersion day school for children ages 3, 4 & 5 (pre-school and kindergarten years) starting September 8, 2009. Students will be admitted from German and non-German speaking families. Special emphasis will be placed on spoken language development in the early years with the goal of total oral fluency in German upon entering first grade, age 6.

GACCoM congratulates Deutsche Sprachschule Bloomfield, MIThe Deutsche Sprachschule Bloomfield received the “PASch-Plakette” a “seal of quality” from the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their successful and long lasting work, which includes them in the global network of German Partner Schools (PASch) around the world.
Honorary Consul Fred Hoffman awarded this honor in a special ceremony on April 25, 2009. The German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest also expressed congratulations and appreciation through Dr. Walter Maisel, President of Kostal and member of GACCoM's Board of Directors.
The school’s mission is to educate students in becoming open minded, responsible global citizens with a wide range of communication skills.
