Annual Transatlantic Program Alumni Reunion in Washington D.C.

The 4th TAP Alumni Reunion will begin on Friday afternoon, January 16 and take place in Washington D.C. Planned is an official reception at the residence of the US Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany by invitation of the German Ambassador to the US and official Patron of the Transatlantic Program, Dr. Klaus Scharioth, on the evening of January 16, 2009. 

 

With four GACCoM Transatlantic Programs for students successfully completed and the fifth program under way, the Transatlantic Program Alumni Network is becoming stronger and stronger. The Network offers a valuable platform to strengthen ties between former Transatlantic Program participants and to keep them linked to the German American business community.

Immersion Seminar and Internship Opportunity in Germany for Selected U.S. Students in Summer 2009

 

Deadline for application was October 24, 2008. The selection process is now in progress.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners for their central support during the promotional phase of the Transatlantic Program 2009. A special thank you goes to the American Association of Teachers of German, the Goethe Institute in Chicago, German Academic Exchange Service - DAAD, to all the nominating professors of universities and colleges throughout the US and to our TAP Alumni, who motivated prospective participants to apply.

Ambassador Dr. Klaus Scharioth, German Ambassador to the U.S., has taken on the patronage for the Transatlantic Program of the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest (GACCoM). With this new patronage Ambassador Scharioth demonstrates his support for the German-American business relationship, which he believes can only be strengthened by direct local experiences through our next generation’s young professionals. Transatlantic Program 2009

Immersion Seminar and Internship Opportunity in Germany for Selected U.S. Students in Summer 2009

The GACCoM Transatlantic Program for Students will take place for the fifth time in 2009 and give up to 25 selected U.S. students the opportunity of a lifetime to experience Germany and German business environment from the inside.

A ten-day Immersion Seminar in Berlin will prepare the participants for their life in Germany with language lessons, cultural training and visits to various German companies and organizations.

The Immersion Seminar is followed by an individual internship with a German company, that is carefully matched to the participant’s background and career objectives and lasts between 2 and 6 months.

 

Dates

The future Transatlantic Program 2009 will start on Saturday, May 23, 2009 with the Immersion Seminar in Berlin. Participants will depart for their individual internships on June 1 and start their internships on June 4, 2009. Next year's Interim Seminar will be held from July 9 to July 11, 2009 in Cologne.

Once we have posted the application package for 2009, feel free to submit your application for the program. Applications will be accepted until October 24, 2008.







Transatlantic Program 2008

For the fourth time, the GACCoM Transatlantic Program will give up to 25 selected U.S. students the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience Germany and the German business environment first hand.

The GACCoM Transatlantic Program 2008 will start on May 24 with a ten-day group immersion seminar in Berlin, followed by individual internships in German companies starting June 5.

The individual internships are pre-arranged by GACCoM and its German partner InWent  and carefully selected to match individual backgrounds and career objectives. Depending on individual preferences, the internships will last between two and six months.

From July 10 to July 12, 2008, the group will come together again for a Mid-term Seminar in Cologne where experiences will be shared and internships reviewed.
